A proud heart is an abomination to God. Harboring pride will impede your progress and stand in the way of your blessing. God wants to bless you, but you cannot expect a breakthrough until you pass the humility test. “Though the LORD is great, He cares for the humble, but He keeps his distance from the proud.” (Psalm 138:6) As you work daily striving to advance your life, realize that you will be presented with several opportunities to prove your readiness for a major breakthrough, by your willingness to, “consider others more important than yourselves.” (Philippians 2:3) God will bring answers to your prayers through simple people who do not even have titles or credentials. God will bring solutions to your problems in ways that require you to humble yourself and seek advice and counsel from others. Things will happen in your life that will force you to depend on others. Until you humble yourself and accept, honor and value people, especially those who don’t look like you, or don’t live in your neighborhood, you will remain stuck in your prideful ways. “A man’s pride will bring him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honor.” (Proverbs 29:23) Therefore, do not sabotage yourself, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” (James 4:10)
