2nd Timothy 2:24 “And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,”
Before we begin, you should know this about me. God called me to teach His Word. That does not mean that The Holy Spirit will not use some other gift of The Spirit through me. The scriptures tell us The Holy Spirit anoints according to His will (1st Cor. 12:11; Heb. 2:4). What I am saying is when I write these blogs, I go into details as His Spirit leads. We need to appreciate the fact that not all Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors, and Teachers are the same. As a servant of Christ, I do as I am instructed in the Truth, not mimicking anyone else.
In Luke 22: 24-30, there were words exchanged amongst Jesus disciple regarding which of them would be the greatest. In Matthew 20: 20-21, the mother of Zebedee’s children (James & John) asked a similar question. She wanted her son to sit one on Christ right and the other on His left. Jesus said in essence, in the world everybody wants to be somebody important. As Earth, Wind & Fire sang; That’s the way of the world. However, the children of the Kingdom must not think like that. Such thinking belongs to a carnal mind. Paul had this to say about how we should think:
Rom 8: 6-8 “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (KJV).” This type of stinking thinking leads only to spiritual and physical death, or an early grave. Jesus said this world’s system is such that everyone has someone ruling over him or her in some form or fashion. This truly is a dog eat dog world we live in. Nevertheless, Jesus said we, The Body of Christ might be in this world, but we are in no way of it. We cannot afford to think like mere men. The mind of Christ is not at odds with itself, nor is it double-mind. What did Paul say to his spiritual son Timothy? 2nd Tim. 1:7 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Every day, I see Christians on Facebook attempting to prove to one another that they are more spiritual or knowledgeable than the other person or persons they bicker with. They continual argue about petty and trivial matters. Just the other day one of our brothers cried out for help. This man is a wounded soldier crying out to someone, anyone that might come to his side with oil for his wounds. Many of us stepped up and focused on him and his need. However, someone had to turn it into a fiasco of turmoil. It was not long before they were not focusing on our brother who was in need of solace at all; someone always has to be the smartest person in the room. Not giving one thought about quenching and grieving The Holy Spirit.
