Think and Grow Rich

Matt. 20. “But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21. Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.”
Napoleon Hill, born October 26, 1883, died November 8, 1970, was one of the first American authors who publish several self-help books on the principles of how to achieve financial success. My goal in this post is to take the principle “Think and Grow Rich” and see if it lines up with The Word of God. Keep in mind the title is “Think and Grow Rich”.

Let’s see if thinking in a certain manner will cause the things you desire to come into existence. There is one key element I’d like to point out. We should ask ourselves, what do we truly desire as Christians? David said, “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want”. Yet, he ascended to become the second King of Israel. He was noted to be “a man after God’s own heart”, and was the founder of ancient the Judean dynasty and united all of the tribes of Israel under a single monarch. Of course, he got by with a little help from his King, All-Mighty Yahweh. It is apparent to most of us that Yahweh, the God of the Old and New Testament is omnipotent (All-Powerful) in all three realms, heaven Earth, and Hell, you see Jesus took the keys.

What I’m attempting to do is speak common sense into the Christian lifestyle. Our Heavenly Father will support us with whatever we set our hands forth to do, as long as it lines up with His Word. But there’s one catch:
Eph. 4: 11 “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”

Everything I do or say, it’s done in the name of Jesus to whom every knee will bow whether they want to or not. So forgive me for not mentioning His name as many times as some may think. Everything I write is all about Christ Jesus, inspired by The Spirit of God. This post is an aspect of our LORD many of us have never considered. We are His Children, He is our Father, and His power is not a play-thing. Do not be “carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.
In light of some of our most recent tragedies in this country, let me ask you this…Would you give your 5-year-old child an AK-47 on His 5th birthday? I hope that never happens in this country, but I’m certain it does. That’s way too much power to put in in the hand of a child.

Over the past 2,000 years, we have become immature. We have allowed the church to fall into tiny little pieces. Why can’t we just admit that we are fractured, and Satan has weaseled his slimy way in so cunningly that the right things, we call wrong; and the wrong things, we think are right? We will go to the ends of the earth for one proselyte, just like the Pharisees of old, to make people bend to our traditions. (Please read Matt. 23).

History is either repeating itself or things just went downhill. I know that whoever reads this post will either get mad and won’t like or dislike it. Some won’t read it at all just because they see my name, or hopefully, you will be humbled by this truth. Most of what we’ve seen displayed today as the power of God is a masquerade and we are lost in it. Come on guys, you know it and I know it, and the world knows. We, the Body of Christ, in its present condition, are like a five-year-old child trying to operate an AK-47. In this country, the child would either kill everyone in the house and/or himself. We have a ways to go before God can entrust us with His Dunamis (power). I’m not saying we are not filled with the Holy Spirit, but our behavior toward one another has quenched and grieved the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Paul warned us not to do that, but we ‘went and done it anyways (Eph. 6:16). I’ve read that when He’s quenched, He doesn’t operate. But as it is in the theater, “The Show Must Go On”. What happens when the Holy Spirit is quenched?
I must add these verses because I want people to see how I study the Bible. That is what this blog is all about.

Eph 4:30 “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” We all know there are no perfect churches, but Jesus is coming back for a church without a spot or wrinkle.
How do we justify thinking and saying that He can come back any day now? We must open our eyes and be honest with ourselves. If you have been a part of any church for at least a year, you have seen and/or experienced “bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking…” (Eph 4:31) Including malice.

As if evil speaking weren’t bad enough, I had to look up the word ‘clamour’. It just so happens this is where we derive the word clamor. Bottom line, the Greek definition of this word points to just plain old craziness. Loud outcries in the church, and people act as if they’ve lost all their marble. Now it might not seem that way to us but to someone who just came into that church, or let me put it this way I’m sure they make a U-turn and get out. I know I did for years and you probably did too.

Thayer Definition:
1) a crying, outcry, clamour
Part of Speech: noun feminine
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from G2896

The apostle Paul also spoke of us sounding like clanging brass or symbols, just a bunch of noise and disharmony. Unfortunately in many churches, we turn people off by our behavior. The sin of omission is when we are not being kind, and tenderhearted toward one another forgiving each other as God in Christ has forgiven us. We should never have to tell a person that we are Christian, they should be able to see it by our behavior.

We have deluded ourselves into believing that behaving a certain way impressess church leaders. We also think this will cause the Holy Spirit to be stirred up, and everybody will get healed and blessed and all is well. It’ not well with my soul, how about yours?
My question to the reader of this post is this, do you want to be free? Free of behaving a certain way just because the pastors, the Deacons, the choir, and even the ushers are practicing clamor publicly.
To be continued…
